Useful tools
1. Heavy scissors for generic cutting (including plastics and PVC)
2. Professional scissors for leather;
3. Professional scissors for fabric.
One important thing to remember is to have various types of scissors and never use a tool for a purpose that is not its own. Scissors, for example, have different blades depending on the material they have to cut. If you are going to use scissors that were born for leather, to cut fabric, you will probably damage blades.

Punches of various sizes and shapes are always necessary to apply metal rings and for riveting leather.
Hole punching to make holes in different sizes
Stitching chisels in different sizes. They are necessary for preparing leather for hand stitching. They may have diamond or flat prongs. This determines how the stitches will be in the end.
This is another type of hand sewing leather punch. It just makes round holes in different sizes.
These are skiving tools, their purpose is to make the leather thinner especially along edges or in areas that may become too bulky. These are manual tools, but there are also skiving machines that serve the same purpose.
And finally here are some cutters I am using in my projects.
Starting from the left: a rotary cutter; long-bladed cutter to make straight cuts and sharp angles; an economic cutter for paper or other materials that are not leather; a heavy-duty cutter for thick and stiff materials. The last two are precision cutter for thin and small pieces.
